Iggy played a fantastic gig yesterday night in Paris @ France Inter. The one hour set was made of Préliminaires tracks, covers (I put a spell on you, Shotgun) and classics (5 foot 1, Nighclubbing, The passenger, Sixteen).

In a recent interview for The Australian online newspaper Iggy has confirmed that he will reform "Iggy and The Stooges", the second growth of the band. "I had a meeting in LA last week with James Williamson. It was the first time we had seen each other in 30 years. So we talked about doing something together. Raw Power would be the repertoire." Pop said.

Iggy Pop will perform at the fifth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Friday, May 8, 2009. The event will honor multi-Grammy-winning RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS co-founder and lead singer Anthony Kiedis, who will be presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund and for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction and recovery process. All proceeds will benefit the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation. In a recent interview for ROLLINGSTONE.COM Iggy talks about the future of The Stooges.
Pop — whose longtime Stooges bandmate, guitarist Ron Asheton, died in January — also hinted at the group’s future plans. “We have a large vault, and I’ve been fooling around with different ways to approach vocals,” he says. The band is also “developing something with a dramatic filmmaker,” but Iggy declined to elaborate. What about rumors that Sex Pistols‘ guitarist Steve Jones might join the Stooges? “I talked to Steve, and if I wanted an extra guitar, he’d be the guy to call,” says Iggy. “The group still exists. I’m not gonna tell you more than that.”

Iggy is about to release a new album called "Préliminaires" on May the 18th 2009. It's NOT a rock album, more jazzy stuff. Iggy says it was inspired by french writer Michel Houellebecq's book "La possibilité d'une île".


Whitey Kirst (Iggy's previous guitar player) has released two albums for digital download via the internet, "Eat me" and "vol.11" are available on itunes worldwide as well as on many other music download sites with more to come.

IGGY & THE STOOGES 2009 TOUR DATES CANCELED !
Iggy Pop and the Stooges announced that they will cancel their concerts scheduled during this year’s tour, including the concert to be performed at B’Estfest on July 3, due to the decease of the guitarist Ron Asheton.

Rock Action is the authorized illustrated story of Iggy Pop and The Stooges as told through articles, historical photographs and vintage ephemera; created, collected and compiled over the decades by Robert Matheu. The book will also draw from a number of classic magazine interviews, as well as impending new interviews which will be conducted with every significant member of The Stooges, both past and present. Key features will additionally include a number of Stoogessays which will take a fresh look at their recorded works, ably augmented with a complete and definitive Stooges discography.

In 1986 Iggy covered Johnny O Keefe's song "The wild one" on his "Blah Blah Blah" album. In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Australia's first rock hit, Iggy Pop and the band JET have recorded another version of the song.
